Class 2 April 20, C scale "In Position" and Chords C, Am, F and G7

Great job last night:

Here is a little video from a previous class where I review three chords: C, F, and G7 (no Am)  as well as how to play the C scale "in position":

Please work on the C scale in position and try to use the new way of playing the scale to play the songs that you learned on one string: Mary, Twinkle etc.

Here is a photo of last night's white board:

Above photo shows the C scale up one string and "in position" as well as the new chords  we learned last night.

The photo below shows the two chord progressions that we learned.

C, Am, F, G7
and
C, F, C, G7

It is possible to play these progressions with root notes only. The root notes are the notes that the chords are named after. The root note of a C chord is a C note. The root of a G7 chord is a G note. We played the root notes for these progression on the C string. The numbers below the progressions ( in the photo)  show which frets to use to do that.

Also, note box in lower tight that shows the night's new vocabulary

the C, F, C, G7 progression is used in The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

Here is a recording you can Jam along with:

1. play the roots notes only
2. play the chords once each
3. strum along using the X chord (strings muted)
4. try to put it all together chords and strum

Have fun!
